IBP-PPLM

Pasay-Paranaque-Las Pinas-Muntinlupa Chapter of the IBP

G R E E T I N G S!

It is with great pride and honor that I extend my warm greetings to all the lawyers and members of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines Pasay-Paranaque-Las Pinas-Muntinlupa Chapter.

Numerous milestones have been achieved by the IBP in almost five decades of its existence. Its Roll of Attorneys include, among others the Presidents of the country, the members of the Senate and the House of Representatives, and all the members of the Judiciary, past, and present. From this organization rose outstanding government officials, cabinet members, local government leaders, foreign service officers, educators, business leaders, police and military officers. The Constitution itself gave the legal profession a great part in the governance of our country.

To make it more relevant to the bigger society concomitant to the third mandate of the IBP – to enable the bar to discharge its public responsibility more effectively, the Supreme Court promulgated A.M. No. 17-03-09-SC. The free legal aid program for the underprivileged is considered to be the flagship project of the IBP since its integration in 1973. Through the Rule on Community Legal Aid Service (CLAS), the Supreme Court hopes that many more people can now avail of free legal aid services from the IBP, commencing with the bar passers of 2018 and every year thereafter, who are mandated to render 120 hours of free legal aid to qualified persons or groups.

The IBP has constantly demonstrated its leadership in the public sphere and in nation-building. With the rule of law as the bedrock of the very existence of the legal profession, lawyers are expected to be visionary leaders in the quest for truth and justice.
The legal profession as a whole has acted as a catalyst of change in our society, and it has, therefore, earned the right to claim to be the tribune of the people.

On behalf of my colleagues in the Board of Directors, it is my fervent hope that thru our collective efforts, the IBP will be able to strengthen the brotherhood in the legal profession, uphold the rule of law, and to serve the interest of our nation and people amidst the time of great change.

Mabuhay ang Pilipinas! May God bless us all!
